A Legacy That Started in 1880
In the 1880s, Ezra W. Martin and his family traveled west from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania — heart of Pennsylvania Dutch country — and settled in northern Indiana. They brought with them generations of butchering tradition and old-world recipes that had been passed down through the family for over a century.
Ezra established what would become J&J Quality Meats in Bourbon, Indiana, building a reputation for cleanliness, quality, and honest dealing that would define the business through five generations. Over 140 years later, the Martin family continues that same tradition in the same community.

Keeping the Tradition Alive — Fifth Generation
Jordan Shupp represents the fifth generation of the Martin family to operate J&J Quality Meats. A skilled butcher trained in the family craft from an early age, Jordan has continued to expand the shop's capabilities while honoring the traditions that made the business what it is today.
Under Jordan's leadership, J&J Quality Meats continues to serve farms and families across northern Indiana with custom beef and pork processing, specialty products, and the personal service that sets a family butcher apart from commercial alternatives.
In Memory of Jean Shupp
Jean Shupp dedicated years of her life to documenting the Martin family history and ensuring that the stories, recipes, and traditions of J&J Quality Meats were preserved for future generations. Her meticulous record-keeping and deep love of family history have been invaluable to the business and the family alike.
Jean's contributions as mother, grandmother, and family historian continue to shape J&J Quality Meats every day.
